The School of Information and Communication Technology conducts research and education at a leading international level in Electronics, Software and Computer Systems as well as in Communication Systems. The research activity encompasses both basic and applied level. The school offers a wide spectrum of educational programs at undergraduate, masters and doctoral level. The school of Information and Communication Technology fosters close collaboration with Swedish and international companies and research institutes as well as surrounding associations such as Kista Science City.
The student will join the group of Prof. Benoit Baudry who investigates the automatic synthesis of diverse variants of software components. This work aims at constantly evolving distributed software applications to prevent single points of failure. Empiricism and case studies form the core scientific foundations for this work, where we evaluate diversification technology on large, real-world software systems.
The area of software diversification is a broad area that touches all layers of modern software stacks (from the operating system to application code) and spans across multiple concepts in software (approximating computing, security, performance, data-oriented computing). Its foundation were laid in the seminal paper of Forrest and the most recent overview is available in our survey
The postdoctoral student is expected to develop an autonomous research activity in the area of software diversification, which shall be published in the top conferences and journals in the field of Software Engineering. The applicant must also be ready to take part in supervision activities (Masters and PhD students). The working language is English. The application should be motivated with a one-pager research statement.
The Wallenberg Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP) is funding this postdoc position. WASP is Sweden’s largest ever individual research program, and provides a platform for academic research and education, fostering interaction with Sweden’s leading technology companies.
A suitable background for this position would be a PhD in Computer Science, with a specialization in software engineering or programming language. International experience and language skills are regarded as advantageous qualifications. Expertise in object-oriented programming and design is highly appreciated.
