Norad is the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation. We work for the world to achieve the UN's sustainability goals. Together with our partners and on behalf of Norway, Norad works for a greener future in a world without poverty. Human rights must be respected and no one is left out. Through knowledge and cooperation, we ensure that Norwegian development assistance funds Norad global development. The Agency is a directorate under the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In matters regarding Norway’s International Climate and Forest Initiative (NICFI), Norad reports to the Norwegian Ministry of Climate and Environment. Norad’s functions are laid down in the agency’s terms of references and annual letters of allocation issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Climate and Environment. Norad is responsible for independent evaluation of activities funded over the Norwegian development budget. The evaluations are intended to verify that the support granted are for example to a project or to and organisation, give results. Evaluation activities are governed by a specific directive.
